Spare tire cover catch latch. This NOS part is RARE as most got rusty over the years and Avanti ran out in 1985 production run.
This is painted black and does have shelf wear. It was installed on all 1963 & 1964 Studebaker Avantis and all 1965-1985 Avantis. It’s the part that is screwed to the spare tire cover in your trunk that your latch snaps onto.
