Thanks for your phone time, about my Avanti parts needs.  I love that I can ask you how to fix my Avanti with the parts I purchased from you.  that's an incredible service that nobody offers.  I agree with you, that I am not going to trust a 44 year old piece of rubber, controlling my steering !  The rag joint was very easy to change with your well written instructions. 




Thanks for your rag joint article, it was a breeze to change, per your instructions.  Mine didn't look bad, but how can you look at a 58 year old rubber part and tell if it's good.  It was a no brainer, change it!  It was $180.00 well spent.



Thanks for sharing your unprecedented Avanti knowledge with a flair.  For the in depth, simple instructions, that the not so mechanical inclined, can understand.  I really like when you discuss and bring to light the safety of a part, like the rag joint.  Only a fool wouldn't' change that part after reading your article.



Thanks for your fantastic articles, you are sharing information, that I can't find anywhere else.  I am a hobbyist mechanic and only capable of doing minor things to my Avanti.  When I read your article " Is your Avant really safe to drive?"  I decide to order a new Rag Joint and bolt.  just maybe this would eliminate the play in the steering that nobody seems to be able to correct.  My rag joint looked almost new.  It must have been changed by one of the previous owners.  My Wife told me to take it to our mechanic for the repair, that I was not capable of this repair.
I read your instructions several times and decided I am going to do the job.  I especially like that I can call you if I have any questions.  Boy did it feel good to prove my Wife wrong !
Twice in a row.  #1 she said we didn't need a rag joint as their mechanics said it looked new #2 the repair was too complicated for my limited mechanical skills.  The rag joint on my car must have been wrong.  The N.O.S. rag joint I got from you produced decisive results, the steering is no longer all over the road and I did it myself!!

I am a female Avanti owner and I like working on my own car.  Your articles inform Avanti owners of problems they might have with their cars, that they're not aware of.  Please keep them coming. thanks as I have had no problems changing the steering coupler (rag joint) in my Avanti with your amazing article, as my guide.  I now have much better steering without moving the steering wheel excessively.  Everybody told me the steering coupler was ok.


My steering Rag Joint #1701886 and the bolt 1700615 both look good.  Apparently looks are deceiving.  The 39 year old rag joint was changed out.  The steering was loosey-goosey.  Now I can relax when driving my Avanti.  Please keep your article coming they are OUTSTANDING !


When I purchased my Avanti, it was restored.  The invoices that came with the car showed a steering flange was purchased from another vendor.   I thought for $175.00 it was worth the gamble.  The gamble paid off as it correct my wandering all over the road.  That must be why he totally rebuilt the front end to get rid of the wandering, but I didn't !

Hi I found you through an Avanti owner.  I borrowed his Avanti magazine, and read your eloquent articles.  I am astonished at the depth given to each subject.  You truly do unlock the history and mystery of the Avanti.  I change my rag joint as I am not about to drive down the road on an old tire!  So why would I trust an old rag joint ??


Your articles "Nostalgic Motor Cars unlocks the history and mysteries of the 1963-1985 Avanti" are inspiring!  I changed out my rag joint for safety sake.  The old one may have still been good, but now I have piece of mind.  I also liked your gas tank article, as I have had a gas odor that comes and goes, just like you explained.  As soon as weather breaks, I want to have you recondition my tank.
