Studebaker 1963 – 1964 Avanti Stainless Factory Exhaust System
You get 8 stainless (409) pipes, 2 aluminized steel mufflers (glass packs or quiet tone) for the 1963-1964 Studebaker Avanti R-1 or optional R-2 engine. If you need the R-3 or R-4 system, just email me, and we will put it on ebay. This is New, but not NOS. Studebaker never offered Stainless exhaust pipes. The mufflers are the proper length and are round and seamless. Both the glass packs or the two chambered quiet tone mufflers look exactly the same on the outside. The 8 stainless (409) pipes were all bent by Nostalgic Motor Cars. Nostalgic supplied exhaust pipes to Avanti Motor Corporation, for service.
This is the only system available that was bent from the original Avanti Motors supplied blue prints, and all pipes were jig fit after the bending process was complete. This was an Avanti Motor Corporation requirement. The pipes are all 1/2 “- 1 “ longer than the blueprint requirements. As it is very easy to shorten, but difficult to adjust if the pipes are too short
This system will not fit 1965-1985 Avantis
The Avanti exhaust system is one of the most difficult systems you will ever install, if not bent according to blueprints. It has to clear the steering control valve and hoses, the oil filter, through the frame x-member, over the axle clearing the rear brake hose and finally, clearing the spare tire well.
The factory would have told you that you may have to install some flats as needed or slight tweaking the system for clearance
