Avanti Upper Door & Windshield Pillar Weather Seals
This is an Avanti Motor Corporation redesigned windshield pillar and upper door weather seal. This style was first put into production in mid year 1983-1985. Also installed on 1987-1989 Avantis that still had the stainless molding on the top and back side of the door glass.
The factory offered this as a Retro fit kit that would fit all 1963-1964 Studebaker Avantis and all 1965-1983 1/2 Avantis. You can tell if your 1963-1983 1/2 has the improved, later 1983 1/2 –1985 w/s kit installed.
The 1963 –1983 1/2 originally had a kind of semi hard upper door window weather seal that was screwed to the bottom of the roof with about 6 screws. The new style had a black anodized aluminum channel that was screwed to the bottom of the roof. This new style soft weather seal (see photo) just snapped into this black aluminum channel and glued to the windshield pillar. Your Avanti must have the black aluminum channel for this weather seal system to work.
You will receive 1 new Left and 1 new Right upper door weather
That will replace the old upper door weather seal on all 1983 1/2 – 1985 Avantis and 1987– 1989 Coupes with stainless molding on top and back of door glass.
