Throttle Control Bellcrank 1965-1974 Avanti
Avanti Throttle Control Bellcrank 1965-1974
This is a new throttle control Bellcrank. This is a very RARE NOS part. This bellcranks was installed on 1965-1974 Avantis. It was not installed on 1963-1964 Studebaker Avantis or 1975-1985 Avantis it is a complete assy. with bracket attached for the trans. kick down switch. It’s very easy to change. It simply bolts to the back of the engine with 2 bolts.
The reasons you might want to change your throttle bellcrank:
1) Do you have to hit the accelerator pedal hard and fast to get the engine RPMs to come down to a normal idle without sticking?
2) Does your accelerator pedal have too strong of a spring to get it to return to a normal idle with out sticking ? The heavier spring creates too much pressure on your foot to operate comfortably.
3) Is there play from when you push down on the accelerator pedal before the engine RPM’s start to increase.
These are just some of the problems a warn throttle bell crank can cause. After all it’s a round steel rod going through and turning inside 2 flat pieces of steel that have holes drilled in them ( no bushings ). IT also has 35-44 years of use and probably hasn’t been lubed for that 35-44 years !
Just for conversation, this is one of the 1st parts that Avanti had engineering drawn up and make, to allow the Chevy engine to be installed in the Avanti.
