Studebaker, Studebaker Avanti, Avanti, Steering Flange & Insulator
This is an Avanti Motors N.O.S part that fits 1963 & 1964 Studebaker Avantis, 1965-1985 Avantis.
These have been breaking quite frequently, because they're 35-57 years old, and they are located about 2 inches away from the exhaust manifold.
All Avantis manufactured from 1963-1985 have a flange and insulator assembly (rag joint) The rag joint connects the steering column to the steering gear box. It has a female splined flange on the top and another on the bottom. These two splined flanges slide over the splined steering column shaft on the top and over the splined shaft from the steering gear box on the bottom.
Part Number 1557139 Superseded by part number 1701886 flange and insulator assembly steering gear (rag joint). Connects the steering column to the steering gear box.
This is an Avanti Motors N.O.S part that fits 1963 & 1964 Studebaker Avantis, 1965-1985 Avantis, and many Studebaker cars and trucks.

Studebaker Avanti Spark Plug Wire Set for the R-1 & R-2 engines, 1963-64 without transigniter ignition
This set of spark plug wires were made from the original type Packard carbon core wire for radio suppression, with all correct components. These are not the copper core wire sets being sold by others using the original Studebaker Avanti part numbers. All the wires are the correct length for an accurate fit and factory correct appearance. There are several elements critical in the installation of this wire set.
Make sure that your distributor is positioned correctly.
You must route a correct wire in it’s correct channel of the rubber insulator of the ignition shielding.
Each wire is labeled “1-8” for ease of installation and future trouble shooting (Studebaker did not number label 1-8 on the wires)
The wire sets are date coded with 3 different dates. The wire date code would have to be earlier than the final assembly date found on Nostalgic’s Born Reports build sheets
Date code 1-Q-62 would have been installed from April of 1962 through about June of 1962. Date code 3-Q-62 would have been installed form July of 1962 through December of 1962. Date code 1-Q-63 would have been installed from January of 1963-Decmber of 1963. You may ask why do I need the spark plug wires date coded, as nobody can see the wires with the ignition shielding installed. You don’t but it doesn’t cost you any extra money to be correct.
